Meet Piled Solutions, the name to trust for CFA piling, screw piling, underpinning services, deep foundation installation, foundation reinforcement, basement installation, basement conversions, site preparation, driven piles and restricted access piling. Our groundwork contractors meet the needs of domestic customers and commercial clients in East Sussex and all surrounding areas.
Perhaps the most common question asked of our contractors is “How deep do you need to bore to install piled foundations?”
There is no definitive answer for this because depths rely on a series of factors, including the pile type used. Originally, piled foundations were laid for larger buildings and set much deeper. The introduction of CFA piling, auger bored piling and restricted access piling, and other mini piling techniques, allows our contractors to work to much shallower depths.
This means we can use piles, and bored piled retaining walls, on domestic projects in East Sussex as well as for commercial works.
Depths vary based on the following:
The above will also dictate the type of pile used in construction.
When groundwork contractors undertake a geographical or topographical survey, they can encounter clay, chalk, sand, peat, gravel and rock. Clay, because it is much less stable, will need a deeper pile than soil with rock beneath it.
CFA piling, auger bored piling and restricted access piling are bored piling techniques, and bored piled retaining walls use individual piles to create a continuous run of reinforcement in weak soil conditions. These are different to driven piles, which means the techniques work especially well in areas with limited space, or on jobs in East Sussex where we need to minimise the amount of vibration so as not to impact nearby properties or utilities.
We are always considerate when undertaking foundation installations, basement conversions and underpinning services.
H-section steel driven piles run to depths of 36m, and screw piles run down to around 24m. Concrete driven piles can reach down to 30m and, for small properties with restricted access, timber piles go down to 12m in depth.
With CFA piling, auger bored piling and restricted access piling, groundwork contractors can bore down as far as 40m. Because bored piled retaining walls essentially use the same piling technique, it is possible to reach similar depths.
If you have an upcoming project in East Sussex that needs our services, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us. We cover everything from deep foundation reinforcement, foundation installation, basement installation and basement conversions to underpinning services, site preparation and driven piles.
