Piled Solutions installs rotary bored piles where structural requirements dictate higher bearing loads or where sites include hard rock layers, boulders or underground obstructions. Rotary piling uses high-torque piling rigs to remove soil and rock until the design depth is reached. Using a piling rig and specialist drilling tools, we bore into the ground, removing spoil. This method involves screwing a temporary steel sleeve into the ground and using an auger to remove soil and rock inside of the casing. Once we reach the desired depth, we insert a reinforcement steel cage and pour in concrete. The temporary casing is then removed.
Rotary piling is often the preferred choice for projects that demand precision and performance in difficult ground conditions. Unlike displacement methods, rotary bored piles do not cause ground heave, making them especially suitable for sensitive environments and areas with adjacent structures. This reduces the risk of ground movement and potential damage to nearby buildings, a key consideration for inner-city and suburban projects.
Rotary piling is suitable for all soil types, but is typically used in dry, stable soils. This method of foundation installation is ideal for use where boulders, man-made obstructions or hard strata are present, preventing the use of CFA piling.
